Snap, Filter, Upload: Project #1

Got a similar pic? Make your image usable by following these simple steps:

Open image in SnapSeed. (Download SnapSeed for iOS here and Android devices here)

On the lower right side of the screen, there will be a white circle with a pencil icon in it. Tap. You will be redirected to a screen with the word "TOOLS" on top. For this particular image we first used the "Tune Image" function. Tapping on "Tune Image" will allow you to adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation (etc) of the image. To get to these particular settings you will have to swipe up and down. Once you have selected which element to adjust, you may now start changing the brightness (contrast, etc) by swiping from left to right, with left being 0 and right being 100% brightness (same applies to other elements).
See how the image has already gotten better just by adjusting the brightness alone? By the way, this picture was taken using an iPhone 5s. Who knew the phone was packing a lot of details under all that darkness?

Now comes the fun part--filters! As you can see, adding a Drama filter gives the image a scratchy type of look and makes the darker area pop out better. However, there is an obvious albeit slight line where the dark spot used to be.
Adding a Grunge effect softens the line a bit although it makes the image look a little bit cartoonish. However, compared to the initial image, this end product now looks more artsy and uploadable.

This is one of the  many ways you can make hopeless images usable. Filters aren't only for playing with random effects. It's also great for salvaging images that seem useless. So what are you waiting for? Snap, filter, upload!
